Prof. Dr. Olaf Groß
(Institute for Neuropathology, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg)
Olaf Groß received his doctorate in Biology from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and was postdoctoral fellow in the group of Jürg Tschopp at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He returned to the Technical University of Munich Medical Center to start an independent research group in 2012, supported by an ERC Starting Grant, before he became appointed full professor in Freiburg in 2017. His research centers around the mechanisms of signal transduction, innate immunity, danger sensing, cell death, metabolism, mitochondria, and macrophage cell biology and their interconnections and cross-talk. He develops new strategies for precision control of innate immunity for research and therapy.
