Time and date/duration: Thursday, Nov 28, 2024. 4 pm / ca. 90 min

Location: Zoom – access details provided by the tutor

Description:
Statistical analysis of data is quasi-mandatory in today's scientific environment. Which insights do statistical methods give, and what is the fundamental limitation? In this session, we will approach the idea behind statistical analysis in life/natural sciences, mostly qualitatively, and discuss common interpretations and fallacies. We will glimpse uni- vs. multivariate analysis tools for small and large datasets, which data they apply to, and the information they can provide us on our data structure. We will have time to discuss your data interpretive tasks, challenges, and interests.

This session will be suitable for beginners and routine users of statistical methods who desire to develop their intuition of data interpretation; advanced (bio)statisticians are invited to join and enrich the meeting with their experiences.

This workshop is open to everyone at the JSMC! To participate in the workshops, please register with Katja.
