Physics and Bacteria
This lecture by microbiologist Ralf Ehricht and biophysicist Christian Eggeling gives an insight into the world of bacteria and how we can describe and observe them physically. Bacteria are everywhere and our body is filled with them and they are also essential for many functions. However, bacteria are diverse and cause disease, with resistance to antibiotics being one of the biggest current challenges in medicine. We are therefore looking at the issue of this diversity. How are bacteria structured? Where do they occur? How does antibiotic resistance develop? And how can we analyse these microscopic objects more closely? In doing so, we are looking in detail at the latest methods of microscopy such as super-resolution microscopy techniques.
The event is in German language.
