Microfluidic droplets offer various advantages: they facilitate the cultivation of microorganisms due to little space requirement as well as fastness and multiplicity. But the tiny droplets were not discriminable. Scientists are about to tackle that problem with coloured beads and artificial intelligence. The results of their interdisciplinary study were published in the scientific journal Small.
