On November 22, 2024, the Long Night of Sciences transformed Jena into a hub of curiosity and discovery. Our Cluster of Excellence, “Balance of the Microverse”, took center stage at the event with its “Microverse Science Event”, spotlighting the hidden world of microorganisms.

Held at the Jena Planetarium, the event guided audiences aged 11 and up on on an unforgettable journey into the invisible. With engaging moderation by entertainer Jack Pop, the evening combined lively presentations, fascinating scientific insights, and live experiments. Researchers from our Microverse Cluster showcased the crucial role microorganisms play in our lives, the environment, and the planet as a whole.

Science to Inspire and Engage

The highlight of the evening was our film “Into the Microverse”, which took audiences on a captivating exploration of the microbial world—educational, thrilling, and humorous. But the journey didn’t end there: an interactive station allowed attendees to get hands-on and dive into the microbial universe through microscopes. This experience inspired both young explorers and experienced science enthusiasts alike.

Thank You

A heartfelt thank you goes to Jack Pop, our brilliant research team Anne Busch, Andres Ulmer, and Stefanie Wagner, Sabine Arndt and ChemBioSys, our JSMC Graduate School, and the outstanding team at the Jena Planetarium for their invaluable contributions.

Bringing Science to Schools!
