Save the Date: Official Opening of the Microverse Center Jena – 5 October

Please save the date! On October 5, we will celebrate the official opening of the Microverse Center Jena.

The day will begin with "Microverse & Friends", where laboratories and research groups are invited to present their work and showcase the new research environment. Selected stations will also be featured during the afternoon programme, giving guests an opportunity to experience Microverse research firsthand.

The official inauguration starts at 3 pm and will bring together representatives from science, politics, and partner institutions to mark this important milestone for our community.

More details on the programme, participation, and registration will follow soon. We hope you will join us for this special day!

Before You Hit "Submit": A Friendly Publication Reminder

With summer approaching, many manuscripts are being finalized, submitted, or accepted and conference season is just around the corner. We'd therefore like to send a quick reminder to everyone whose research has been supported by the Cluster of Excellence "Balance of the Microverse".

If your work has received Microverse funding (e.g. personnel, consumables, publication support, or other financial contributions), please remember to:

  • Acknowledge Microverse funding in your publications
Please include the following funding statement in all publications resulting wholly or partly from the funded work:
Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) under Germany's Excellence Strategy – EXC 2051 – Project-ID 390713860.
  • Follow the Cluster's Research Data Management (RDM) guidelines
All funded projects are expected to comply with the Microverse RDM requirements. Further information is available on the Microverse Intranet.
  • Let us know about your publications
Has your paper been accepted? Are you presenting exciting results at an upcoming conference? We'd love to help increase the visibility of your research through press releases, social media, news stories, or other communication activities.
Simply get in touch with Juliane Seeber (juliane.seeber@uni-jena.de) as early as possible. We're always happy to support you.

Thank you for helping make Microverse-funded research visible, accessible, and impactful.

DFG Calendar 2027: Showcase Your Research Through Images

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is inviting all DFG-funded projects to participate in the DFG Calendar 2027 Photo Competition. This year's theme is "Dynamics", which can be interpreted broadly—from dynamic biological processes and scientific discoveries to innovative methods or visualizations.

In addition to photographs, illustrations, renderings, graphics, collages, and other visual formats are welcome. The twelve selected entries will be featured in the official DFG wall calendar, distributed to DFG committee members, staff, and partner institutions.

Submission deadline: 15 September 2026

Images should be submitted in landscape format (7,000 × 3,000 pixels, ideally 300 dpi) together with a short project and image description (approx. 1,000 characters).

Need support? If you would like advice on selecting a suitable image, editing a figure, or preparing your submission, feel free to contact Juliane Seeber, Science Communication Officer, at juliane.seeber@uni-jena.de. I'd be happy to help you identify compelling visuals and prepare a strong submission.

Let's show the beauty and diversity of Microverse research!
